A frantic wave based on-rails shooter made in one week for the New Year, New Skills Game Jam. Your jet is equipped with some powerful, but unstable, technology that you'll need to manage while flying.

How to play: Since some people were getting confused (mostly because I couldn't design a good UI to save my life, sorry about that), you have to finish making connections in the connections menu before you can start the game. These connections can also be broken, remade, and redistributed mid-game.

Note: There are some minor lag spikes when starting the web version, although the worst of it should be fixed. If you experience more than that (ie, frame dips or freezes that last more than a few frames), please leave a comment about it. Thank you.

Linux and Mac support have been added, although I cannot test them myself.

Nice aesthetic ! Well done ! However I couldn't figure what the connections are for (a little explanation would be good)

There's a how-to-play page in the controls section that goes into detail about what the connections do. But in short, weapons increases damage, shields increases shield recharge rate, and engines increases acceleration. And losing all connections to a module essentially disables it entirely. But you're absolutely right that the explanation should have been more prominent/straightforward.

Super neat game! I love the retrowave vibe.

I don’t think the UI in the connections page was clear enough about what needed to be done. It took me some time to understand what needed to be done.

For me too it lagged a little when I started (I’m on Chrome) but then it ran smoothly.

A got a bug a little bit before the power up “Return to base” appeared: the ship stopped responding to my mouse movements. Nothing could work unless reloading the browser page.

You may want to increase the difficulty of the game because my current session is currently running for almost 10 minutes without me doing anything and I’m still not dead. 😅

Aside from those points, that’s excellent work. Keep it up!

If you have time, could you send a video of the issue with returning to base? There's supposed to be a brief pause before the screen fades and it sounds like either it didn't work, or it took much longer than it's supposed to.

Cool! I’m not sure if I got hit too much, but I lost control of the plane after a little bit. It was a little laggy when I loaded into the level, but it cleared up once I got flying.

If you lost control of the plane it means your engine was disconnected. You can go back into the connections menu to fix that by pressing tab.

I'm also not sure what causes the lag, assuming you're talking about the web version. But from my tests the downloadable versions generally run better.

WebGL can't start game (mine) but the screen shot lookin kind cool tho!

What browser are you using?

google chrome, maybe wait for others It might be for only me

I tested it on chrome at it worked okay for me (the web version has some issues but it's still mostly playable). It might be an OS issue, I should be able to make an executable for MacOS and Linux if that would work better, I just can't test them.

OH! I'm a little confused, I need to click connections first. It works now!

yeah for me on browser the start button doesnt work

nvm just had to do the connections
